For more than a decade now, the Chappell Universal
Square has been in the hands of craftsmen builders, professional carpenters and people building their own houses, wedding arches, workshops, playhouses or tree houses in their backyards. Now we want to shine a spotlight on your work — the homes, studios, gazebos, furniture, timber frames, outdoor structures, and creative builds that came to life with the help of the Chappell Universal Square.
This isn’t just a contest
It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and the projects that put a ‘smile-on-your-face’ and make communities more beautiful and functional.
Entering is Simple
Share photos and videos of a project you’ve built using the Chappell Universal Square.
We’re looking for:
- Stunning structures (homes, cabins, tiny houses, guest houses)
- Outdoor creations (gazebos, pergolas, sheds, playhouses, treehouses)
- Kid Creations (projects built by kids or adults for kids)
- Any build — large or small — where the Chappell Universal Square helped bring fruition to your vision.
Whether you’re a homeowner-builder, a professional craftsperson, a designer, or a weekend dubber, we want to see your proudest work.
Awards & Recognition
- Grand Prize Award: The Grand Prize Winner will win a trip for 2 to one of the world hotspots of historic building in the summer of 2027. Japan, Norway and France are on the option block. Each of these countries have unique and extant building traditions and countless examples of 800 years old masterpieces. The trip will be guided by one of the masters of their craft from the local vernacular building traditions.
- Category Winners: (e.g., Best Small Build, Best Timber Frame, Best Stick-frame, Best Outdoor Structure, Best structure for kids) These winners will win a bundle of Chappell Square products.
- People’s Choice Award: Voted on by the Chappell Square community, will win a complete set of all Chappell Square products.
- Honorable Mentions: Highlighted in our online gallery and socials
All winners receive prominent placement in the Chappell Showcase Series, celebrating the talent of builders around the world. No project is too big or too small to enter.

Rules & Eligibility
Eligibility
• Open to anyone—professionals or first-time builders worldwide
• Project must incorporate the Chappell Universal Square in some part of the build
• Entrants must be 18+ or have guardian consent
• Projects may be new or previously completed
Judging Criteria
• Craftsmanship
• Overall Design Creativity
• Creative use of the Chappell Universal Square
• Visual quality of submission
• Overall impact & story
Timeline
• Contest Opens: December 1, 2025
• Submissions Close: January 1, 2027
• Winners Announced: March 1, 2027
Submission Requirements
• Up to 10 photos. Specs: max size 800×1200 pixels, 72dpi, .jpg format and max 1MB
• Optional: up to 5 video clips. Specs: MP4, max 1 minute, 10MB
• Brief description of the project and how the Chappell Square played a part (100–500 words recommended)
• Entrants must own rights to all submitted media.
Permissions
By entering, participants grant CUS&R LLC permission to feature submitted photos/videos in showcase materials, galleries, and promotional content (with attribution). All photos must be clearly designated with the name of the photographer.
