12" & 18" Stainless Steel Center Rule Set

The set of Chappell Universal Center Rules make a perfect pair, and will definitely become one of the most used tools in your shop. Made from .029” tempered stainless steel, and ruled on both front and back sides. The tempered Stainless Steel makes them flexible enough to conform to round logs or curved surfaces, but still remain flat and straight without deforming to the shape of the log. However, some log builders like force a permanent curve in these center rules to be dedicated to round log work. This works brilliantly.

The zero point and center rule scales are scaled in the Chappell Hybrid Imperial-Decimal Inch. The Chappell Hybrid Scale is an imperial inch ruled scale with 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 inch rule marks, and minor divisions between the quarters in .05". The center rule scale runs along the center of the blade, with bold arrowed rule lines extending to the edges to designate the center point.

The scales on the top and bottom edges have zero points starting from opposite ends, allowing the rule to be worked from either end without flipping it over and reading upside down. Chappell Center Rules are a fan favorite for log building, timber framing, and for working with curved or live-edge boards and recycled timbers. Center Rules are also the perfect tool for laying out mortices & tenons for cabinetry, furniture, timbers and/or round logs—when true centerline joinery is desired.
