In this course Chappell takes timber framing to its highest level to explore the exciting world of compound, multi-dimensional joinery. Not for the faint-of-heart, students will learn a systematic process to determine angular relationships for virtually any 3 dimensional form and how to apply it to the layout of complex, compound joinery. The results are often truly amazing.

This is a rare opportunity to learn first-hand how to use the Chappell Square at its highest level directly from it's creator. This course is hands-on and intensive, so be prepared to stretch your limitations on every level of being and becoming a master craftsman.

Advanced Timber Framing August 10-15, 2026
Location: Fox Maple School in Brownfield, ME.
Tuition: $2,375 - You will be charged $1,187.50, 50% of tuition, upon registering . The balance will be due upon the start of workshop. Tuition includes a copy of Advanced Timber Framing book, breakfast and lunch. Camping on site is free, with many nearby lodging opportunities.
The Advanced TF Workshop covers extremely complex concepts and is not for the faint of heart, or for those without considerable timber framing experience. To qualify for an Advanced TF Course one must have; 1) At least two years experience working professionally in the timber framing field, or 2) successfully completed a Fox Maple Introductory TF Course. The best way by far to get the most out of the Advanced TF Course is to take the Combined TF Session, back-to-back. Students wishing to attend the advanced course alone must submit a letter of reference from a qualified Timber Framer and or a resume of your experience prior to being accepted.
Due to the nature of scheduling and student limits workshop deposits are non-refundable. In the case where you cannot attend, deposits may be used toward any future Fox Maple Workshop. Please be sure you plan to attend before you register. This policy is absolute.
